Contact Lens Optician is a person who, are authorized by state law and are trained or certified to do so, may fit or dispense contact lenses to a patient based on the prescription of an optometrist or medical physician.

Ophthalmic Technologist provides assistance to ophthalmologists performing eye care. Their duties include conducting diagnostic tests, sending and retrieving lab work, helping during eye exams and aiding during surgery. They also provide patients with instructions in the proper use of corrective lenses.

Optometric Technician perform a variety of tasks to assist the optometrist in eye examinations and corrective procedures. They record patient medical histories and help prepare the patient for the vision examination. They also assist with tests that help ensure the accurate diagnosis and treatment of a diseased eye. This may include patient pre-testing such as visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, pupil reflexes, visual field testing, pressure inside the eye, and blood pressure. They are usually in charge of making sure that the patient understands the proper care and use of glasses and contact lenses that the doctor has prescribed.

Ocularist are carefully trained technician skilled in the arts of fitting, shaping, and painting ocular prostheses (Artificial Eye). In addition to creating it, the ocularist shows the patient how to handle and care for the prosthesis, and provides long-term care through periodic examinations.
